Where and when will training be?

Training is held one weekday afternoon or evening per week.  The time and location of training is determined by the team’s coach after team formation.  Locations for training include Thompson Park ( Artarmon Public School ), Mowbray Public School and Chatswood High School .

When are matches played?

Matches are played on Saturday mornings for the junior mixed competition and on Sundays for the all girl’s competition.

Where are matches played?

In younger age groups (U6 to U10) games are held in the southern area of the association (between North Sydney and Pymble).

For U6 and U7 teams the vast majority of matches will be held at Bales Park (Willoughby), Tunks Park (North Sydney) or Blackman Park (Lane Cove).

For girls teams and mixed teams U11 and above games can be scheduled throughout the association’s region (which extends to Brooklyn ).

Can my child play with his/her friends?

You can request that your child play with particular friends or in school teams (please do this is the ‘comments’ section of the on-line registration form).  Whilst efforts are made to accommodate requests The Club cannot guarantee team placements and we firmly believe that where possible children should be grouped to play with and against players of a similar ability (see ‘How are teams formed?’ below).

How are Teams Formed?

Chatswood Rangers believe it is in the best interest of all players that where possible they play with and against players of similar ability and therefore undertake varying degrees of player grading across junior teams. In 2009 Chatswood Rangers will take the following approach to team formation:

Under 6

Teams formed on school and friend groups

Under 7

One graded “A” team will be selected, all other teams formed on school and friendship groups

Under 8 and above

A and B team will be selected.  Where player numbers permit other teams will be formed on school and friendship groups,

The team selection process is conducted in 3 parts:

-          Player assessments from previous coach

-          Player assessment day sessions

-          Trial games

Sunday 14th March

Castle Cove #2

Holly St
, Castle Cove

Skill Development and Player Assessment Sessions (approx 60 mins each)

U7 to U12

Sunday 28th March

Trail Matches

U6 to U18

For each session players must wear boots and shin pads, or they will not be permitted to participate.  Players should each have a drink bottle with water, hat & sunscreen.  Where possible, players should bring their own football - size 3 ball for under 6 to 9, size 4 ball under 10+

We encourage all prospective coaches and managers to attend the player assessment sessions.

Is my child old enough to play football?

The FFA rules states that a child must turn 5 during the calendar year to registered to play football in that year.  To play in 2009 your child must be born in 2004 or before.

What does my child need to have to play?

Chatswood Rangers provide match shirts and playing socks for all players.  Each player must have their own:

-          White shorts

-          Boots

-          Shin guards

We recommend that each child has their own ball (Size 3 for U6 to U9, Size 4 for U10+).

Do you have girls only teams?

Where numbers permit Chatswood Rangers have girls only teams, which play on Sundays.

Junior registration fees for 2010 are $185 per player.  The 3rd child in any family receives a 50% discount and 4th and subsequent children are free.  This applies across football and netball.

These fees cover the cost of registering each team with the KDSA, FFA levies insurances and club costs such as training field hire, equipment, uniforms etc.
