12 June v Northbridge 10P (loss 8-2)

This was always going to be a challenging game. The 10Ps have been playing in the U11 competition this season. The first half saw a tight tussle between the teams. Chatswood boys scoring the first goal and the half time score being 2-2. A couple of goals by N'bridge in the second half and the game started to fall apart. There was no doubt we were beaten by a better team but some consolation can be drawn from the following (definitely not meant to be taken as excuses, we were well beaten):

- we were in the game in the first half
- we had no subs for most of the first half (Patrick arrived late and Hamo was o'seas)
- Sam was injured during the second half, meaning we were back down to no subs.
- Our goalie Mitch who made some fine saves got injured part way through the second half and had to come off.

Player Points
3 Points - Mitchell for his great goalkeeping
2 Points - Tom who tried hard in defence in difficult circumstances
1 Point - Joel O and Will C for picking early goals

22 May v Berowra 10A (won 2-1)

A tough game for the boys against a stronger than expected Berowra team. The size and speed of Berowra proved to be a challenge. In fact we were possibly a bit lucky to finish ahead - a draw would probably have been a fair reflection of the game.

Memorable Moments
Mitch's goalkeeping produced many good saves.

Player Points
3 Points - Mitchell for some fine saves
2 Points - Benji for his work rate in attack and defence
1 Point -  Luca for his allround effort

15 May v Northbridge 10A (won 9-1)

The opening kick-off by the boys set the scene for the rest of the game - the ball went back a couple of times then across and down the left wing followed by a shot at goal that narrowly missed. Five or six passes without the opposition touching the ball - ahhh that's what football is all about!!  Probably the team's best performance so far. Our opponents had some good ball skills - the clear difference though was the way we retained possession.

Memorable Moments

-That opening kick-off.
-A pass from Patrick, played out of defence, which resulted in a goal.
-Luca's determination down the right wing.
-Mitchell on crutches from an ankle injury the night before - and was there to watch his teammates play on a fresh saturday morn. Great effort!!
-An unusual tackle from Benji - 3rd time lucky after being beaten twice
- the 9 goals being shared amongst 6 players

Player Points

3 points - Luca for his runs, crosses and for following instructions.
2 points - Tom J for a strong allround game - no way through that defence!!
1 point - Mitchell for turning up on crutches to watch

8 May v Lindfield 10A (won 3-2)

The boys controlled the entire game however found themselves behind at half time after a runaway led to a Lindfield goal - their only shot in the first half. The boys continued to press the Lindfield goal in the second half. We hit the post 4/5 times during the game - the football gods were agianst us. Two goals towards the later part of the second half gave us a well deserved win.

Memorable Moments
- Comments by at least two of the Lindfield parents to the effect that we deserved our win (not that we didn't know but good sportsmanship).
- The excitement shown by players and mums and dads when the full time whistle went.
- The number of near misses on goal.

Player Points
3 points - Sam for his effort in defence
2 points - Dante for his development as a defender
1 point - Joel O for his effort during the game.

1 May 2010 - v Lane Cove 10A (won 11-0)

This was a very one-sided game demonstrating the gap that develops in junior football between players that (probably) train once a week during the winter season and our boys, most of whom have been on the park 3 times a week since October 2009. Although closer games will provide the most benefit to the boys football development games like this provide an opportunity to give players a chance in positions outside of their comfort zone. In particular, Sam moved into the midfield, Tom J had the opportunity to play in the midfield and then as striker, Benji spent some time in goals, Mitchell moved up to midfield from a more defencive role and Dante spent most of the game in defence.

Memorable Moments
- Sam scoring 2 goals whilst playing left midfield
- Patrick picking up 4 goals
- Dash getting his hat trick
- Benji getting 2 goals
- Joel O's goal
[yes I know that adds up to 12 goals...sack the official scorer!! ]
- The look on the boys faces after enjoying a more "relaxing" game than the two previous encounters

Player Points
3 points - to Dash for his hat trick (in particular the goal scored off a cross)
2 points - Patrick for his dominance in the game
1 point - Dante for his defencive positioning and overall solid game.

24 April 2010 - Friendly Versus Queens Park (lost 8-3)

After a first half where we were outplayed by a very strong Queens Park FC team, the boys showed great character in winning the second half 3-2. This was a great learning experience for the boys, playing against the best team in the Eastern Suburbs - a team that have played together for several years. With just four matches together as a team there's no doubt our boys will continue to improve.

Memorable Moments
-A 0-6 halftime score.
-The effort to pull the score back to 3-6 early in the second half.
-The goals by Will, Patrick and Benji
-Luca's shot that ended with Will chesting/stomaching the ball into the goal.
-The great effort by our defence in the second half (particularly Hamo, Tom, Sam ...and Mitchell in goals).
-Dash racing down the field towards goal(hence the name).
-Tom having a competitive tussle with an opponent whilst waiting for the corner kick to arrive.
-Mitchell's outstretched glove pulling the ball in off the line - several times.
-The look on the boys faces after the game - a tough but rewarding experience.
 Player Points
3 Points - to Patrick for the amount of running and effort he put in.
2 Points - to Sam for carrying out instructions and playing a number of good passes out from defence.
1 Point - to Luca for his effort throughout the game.
